Outfit of the Day: Smurf Tights!!

I woke up this morning and put on the dress I had laid out of Monday night.  Then I grabbed a paid of navy tights out of my "tights basket" and attempted to put them on.  Nope.  It was a classic case of short tights syndrome.  Something tall girls everywhere will understand.  The tights aren't as tall as your legs so you end up with a tights web forming just under your crotch.  Sigh.  I threw them in the trash and grabbed another pair.  These were from Target and were labeled 1x-2x.  I put them on and they were super tight and again, rather short.  I pulled and pinched.  It reminded me of when I was a little girl, getting ready for church and my Mom would put my tights on.  Oh, I hated that.  She always pinched my legs.  It was that same feeling this morning and made me laugh at loud at the memory.  I pulled them up, looked in the mirror and noticed a large run up the back.  GAH!  Do you know how hard you to have to pull to rip tights that sturdy?  Sigh.  I tried to put on boots but you could still see the run.  I took them off, threw them away and looked through my basket again.  No more navy.  And all of my black tights have a pattern.  Then I saw them.  The bright blue pair of tights I had purchased for $1.25 at Old Navy years ago.  Never worn.  I guess it was one of those times when I thought..."For that price, I'm buying them just because!".  They are a size Large, so I had little hope of them fitting or being tall enough.  They fit!  They are so soft!  And they...are...BLUE!.  Smurftastic blue!  I liked the way they looked but wondered if they were appropriate for work.  I was running late so I just went with it.  Once I put my red pea coat on, I was super colorful and ready to go!  Once I was at work, I did get some looks.  But mostly I got a lot of compliments.  Even from strangers!  My favorite of the day was when our Division Chief said, "They are bright but that suits you.".  Awesome!  Because if I'm going to be an item of clothing, I'd much prefer to me Smurf blue tights over something boring like cargo pants or a sweater.  All in all, a good day and I'm really in love with the cut of this dress!  I hope you all had a great day as well!
