Welcome to my blog! This proves to be a riveting good time for you, so long as your other options are waiting in line at the BMV and/or listening to a sales pitch about The Columbus Dispatch. (Seriously...even when you say you already subscribe, they just keep talking!) I am on Facebook a lot but it's not the best outlet for my long winded writing. So, I figured I'd start a blog for my hard core fans (my dog, Betsy and the guy who sells me my weekly UDF rootbeer floats). So let's get started, reader! Betsy can't read.
This year I want to stop shopping. I know, right?! Weird! But the bottom line is that it's not great for my wallet or my self esteem. More on that later. The jist of it is that I won't be shopping for any clothes. I've made some rules for myself...
1. I can not spend any money on clothes.
2. Money does not include gift cards. I tend to get these as gifts for my birthday and I will be allowed to buy myself clothing with those gift cards.
3. I can buy shoes. I can't imagine going a year without new gym shoes.
4. I can shop for accessories. One thing that scares me about this project is that I'm cool with not buying things but I don't like to feel left out of an "event". And sometimes shopping is an event, you know? So if I go to the mall with my girlfriends I will allow myself to buy a bracelet or earrings so I don't feel left out. Last year I bought a total of 3 pair of clearance earrings at Target so I don't anticipate that getting out of hand!
5. If there are any exceptions to the clothes buying ban (Halloween, busted bra strap emergency, lost luggage, etc) then I must keep a tally and report it in my end of the year total.
Here we go!!!
Stay Houndy!
